Dr. Don A. Kleinsek
Chairman and CEO of GeriGene Medical Corporation
Inventor, researcher, author, educator and successful entrepreneur in the biotechnology industry, Dr. Don A. Kleinsek, will be the special guest speaker at the music video premiere of 'This Time Tomorrow' on Saturday, November 8, at the Watertown High School. Don will speak on the definition of what cancer is, statistics on cancer, and a description of relevant technologies to treat cancer.
Dr. Kleinsek is known around the world for his major life-saving breakthroughs in medicine in age-related diseases.
Dr. Don Kleinsek, Chairman and CEO of GeriGene Medical Corporation, is an inventor, researcher, author, educator and successful
entrepreneur in the biotechnology industry. He graduated magna cum laude, receiving his Ph.D. in the Physiological Chemistry
department of the Medical School from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Subsequently Dr. Kleinsek served as faculty at
Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, at the University of Wisconsin and as the President and Scientific Director of a nonprofit
foundation, the Bjorksten Research Foundation for aging research.
For the past 30 years, Dr. Kleinsek has research the mechanism(s) responsible for health and disease during the aging process.
Since 1996, Dr. Kleinsek has been active with GeriGene Medical Corporation, located in Madison, Wisconsin, a biotechnology
company dedicated to human aging research. The Company provides affordable "age-related" therapeutics which prevent and
heal human age related disorders and increase the quality of our health and life span.
Dr. Kleinsek has directly been involved in major life-saving breakthroughs in medicine in age-related disease:
1 - The development of cholesterol lowering drugs, termed the "statins" with brand names such as Lipitor, Zocor, Mevacor,
and Pravachol. He has been credited with this work on 35 major pharmaceutical patents. The drugs lower cholesterol
produced by the body by 50% and decrease the risk for heart disease by up to 50%. These drugs have been applauded
as the among the best working drugs in the last 30 years of medicine. These drugs are now the number one and two
drugs selling worldwide.
This class of drug is now being tested for its use in osteoporosis, Alzheimer's disease and in certain types of cancer,
including some of the leukemias.
2 - Dr. Kleinsek, in partnership with GeriGene, has developed a novel regenerative cell technology to repair diseased and
degenerative tissue for many medical indications. In the near future, the therapeutics derived from this technology is
expected to enter markets currently devoid of any real cures. These technologies have applications in throat, skin and
breast cancer.
Genetics, cells, hormones, nutrition and environment are pertinent fields that Dr. Kleinsek has "hands-on" experience in and
important factors in cancer development and control.
Dr. Kleinsek, using genomic technology, was the first to discover aging occurs at the genetic level. He has served as special
peer reviewer of government grants, has been the principal contributor to more than 30 technical and scientific publications, has
written a number of chapters in textbooks, is a co-author of a book in longevity and has received U.S patents for his work on
environmental controls and genetics, and has a series of U.S and world wide patents issued and pending in tissue-engineering
therapeutics for regenerating healthy tissue.
He is a member of a number of professional societies, recipient of a number of research awards and serves on several boards as
a founding member and scientific advisor in the fields of medicine, aging, longevity and health.
