This Time Tomorrow

ONE

In 2001, while working at an advertising agency, Cory received news that shook him to his core. His colleague and friend, Dick Ticcioni, had been diagnosed with Lymphoma after what was supposed to be a routine hernia exam. Dick faced the diagnosis with strength and optimism, but Cory felt helpless—powerless to ease his pain or change his reality. It was one of the hardest moments he experienced, and yet, from that heartbreak came an unexpected spark.

That night, feverish with a 102-degree temperature, Cory sat in his home studio and wrote a song—his way of doing something, anything, in the face of so much uncertainty. It was a song born of worry and hope, and he recorded it in one sitting. The lyrics, just like Dick’s journey, began with a haunting question: “Will I be here?”

But something remarkable happened. With the support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, a circle of loved ones, and an aggressive chemotherapy plan, Dick began to turn the tide. Just 93 days later, his cancer went into remission. The open-ended question at the heart of the song now had a triumphant answer. The ending was rewritten—not with fear, but with hope: “The future’s here.”

And Dick? He didn’t just survive—he thrived. And he’s still winning his battle, a testament to the power of resilience and community.

The song, This Time Tomorrow, soon took on a life far beyond Cory's original intent. He produced a music video. Released a CD single. Went on tour, sharing Dick’s story and donating every dollar they raised to the LLS. What they quickly learned was this: everyone has a story. Everyone knows someone— a parent, a sibling, a friend—who’s faced cancer. And at every stop, someone in the crowd would come forward to share their own connection. Some had tears in their eyes. Others just wanted to say, “Thank you.”

That’s the power of a single story. And Dick’s continues to inspire countless others—one song, one moment, one tomorrow at a time.
