WHY ME? WHY NOW?

MISSION

ORIGIN STORY

In 2001, Dick Ticcioni and Cory Zimmermann were working together at an advertising agency when Dick received a life-altering diagnosis: Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, discovered during a routine hernia exam.

While Dick faced the news with unwavering positivity, Cory was heartbroken, feeling helpless in the face of his friend’s battle. That helplessness became a powerful—but painful—inspiration. That very night, burning with a 102-degree fever, Cory retreated to his home studio and poured his emotions into a song. It would be the first of many moments sparked by Dick’s incredible strength.

The lyrics, like Dick’s diagnosis, began with uncertainty: “Will I be here?” But as Dick’s journey unfolded—with fierce support from loved ones and an aggressive chemotherapy treatment—the ending changed. What started as a question became an answer: “The future’s here.” After just 93 days, Dick’s cancer went into remission. He had won his battle—and continues to win it every day.

From that moment, This Time Tomorrow began to take on a life of its own. A music video was produced. The song was released as a CD single. Cory went on local tour, sharing Dick’s story and raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). With every performance, it touched someone new. Because nearly everyone knows someone affected by cancer—a parent, a child, a friend. Many had stories of their own to share. Some simply wanted to say, “Thank you.”

More than two decades later, that song still echoes with hope. With 16 unique versions, multiple compilation albums, award-winning music videos, and annual concerts and events, This Time Tomorrow has become a global movement. Its message has reached listeners in over 52 countries—and counting.

In 2011, This Time Tomorrow was officially incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Since then, it has raised millions of dollars to support its national Random Acts of Kindness program—spreading compassion, courage, and connection one act at a time.
